Schuller Ministries...Palm Sunday-The Gathering

My mom was visiting Robert and I and she attended The Gathering on Palm Sunday.  Here we are posed with our palm branches.  We had fun finding them, cutting them, and waving them at the service as we shouted, "Hosanna!"
Robert talked about Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem as thousands of people greeted him and waved their palm branches.  He reminded us that just a few days later the tide of public opinion had turned against Jesus as people shouted, "crucify him!"
Why are people so quick to love us one minute and turn their back (sometimes stab us in the back) the next?  Is it just human nature?
Join us for The Call this evening, April 15th at 6pm Pacific time as we talk about Holy Week.   Dial 530-881-1300 and key-in 642848# when prompted.   You can just listen anonymously or you can ask questions of Robert or myself.  We will read scripture, pray together, and take your prayer requests.

  1. Such a wonderful photo of you all and so perfect with the palm branches and the Cross on the higher ground. THE CALL was one of the best since it began 18 months ago. So much fresh insight into the Easter story;the Colt that was never previously ridden, thus wild, yet stayed calm as Jesus rode the colt, people shouting "Hosanna!" yet the colt still did not become frightened with Jesus there.

As we still see today oft-times in happy joyous crowds, it turned to "Crucify Him". Now we see great joy in sports turning ugly so quickly when all does not go as some in the crowd hoped. A riot ensues and people do things they never dreamed they were capable of doing.

I did have an experience with a young animal at a farm we were visiting for a holiday. When a pig had gotten loose, I a city boy, happily shouted " I'll catch her". Well, one arm around the pig and it bolted flying faster than a comet and, while I tried to hold on, the pig threw me to the ground and the pig was at the other end of the farmyard in a flash. I could not call-in to tell that anecdote so I type it here,

Maundy Thursday, we will leave a light on and it is the night I most feel I want to stay awake as though with Jesus in the Garden.

    Happy Easter to all.
