Fall Cleaning

10 comments:

  1. I can definitely relate, Donna! While the squirrels are storing-up chestnuts in our trees, we too are busy in a way! My wife had threatened to get rid of my very old but oh-so-comfy LazyBoy Chair but we bargained!

A cleaning company I got, Cleanal, did such a good job on the chair and I had promised we would keep going if I got to keep the Lazy Boy she now loves too and so:

    4 upholstered dining chairs
    2 three seat sofas
    2 cozy loveseats
    2 wing-back chairs
    two stair carpet runners
    one basement rug

    ......AND......
    all windows in and out
No I could not rhyme it with and a partridge in a pear tree as I was taking your advice, Donna,

I just read and held out my Mastercard while reading ...ahhh Autumn

    On Autumn (John Keats)

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
    With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run;

I don't know if my wife really
loves the chair but she sure loves
    all the spruced-up furniture.
And I love her so we are both happy!

    God is blessing all!

  2. Hi Donna, yes daylight gets shorter, still dark outside when we wake up. But we still can be full of light in the inside of ouerselfs. Fall is a beautiful season, trees get colorful, it's not so hot anymore. We can invite friends for dinner, yes perhaps reading more in our books. But I like to go out in the nature and read my books there.- Appartment cleaning I do when ever it needs to be done, no spring or other season cleaning. - All my best and God's blessings, Rosemarie

  3. The days where I live are the
complete opposite to what most of you have. Instead of our days getting shorter the days in Australia and New Zealand are getting longer and also hotter. Even though my days are getting longer this will not stop me from doing what you
    suggest that we do
    God bless Barbie M

  4. Hi: Donna: I have been working in my garden to-day it was a sunny warm Autum day. As I was finishing up a cool evening wind was starting. It seem to fit the day just right. As I was getting ready to plant bulbs for spring to have Gods beautifull flowers and the squirrles have been busy hidding their food for winter . It made me think how we can work to-gether and share things. All that God has provided for us. It made my heart and soul feel good. We are so blessed .

    God Bless You All.

  5. Dearest Donna. Cycling through the park, on my way to work, I can just smell the fall.
I love this time of the year. The falling leaves , the beautiful colors. The days getting shorter.
I light scented candles in my living room. Really “gezellig”..!! “gezellig” is not an easy word to translate. Get the definition from yawiktionary.com
Cozy, I would say comes the closest..
Baking is one of my favorite hobbies, especially this time of the year. I love the smell of cinnamon, so I often bake a cinnamon loaf or “spiritual rum/raisin short break cookies”. And on a rainy day I just need to bake bread. I enjoy it tremendously.
The Holidays are supposed to be the best time of the year. One of the most stressful endeavors of all of these is getting my Christmas Cards together and out the door on time.
So last year I decided to start writing them on one of those rainy days early in November.
I am planning on doing this again this year.

Donna, please pass on my heartiest congratulations and best wishes on Roberts birthday.
Wishing him happiness and much success and blessings in his new project.

    Christian Love to all
    Ria

PS Jan-Michael you have a Dutch background, I guess you know the meaning of the word "gezellig"

  6. Hi Everyone,
I love hearing about all of your projects and things. (lots of purchases to to J.M.!) Today it is cloudy and cooler here in Southern California. The ocean is dark blue in color and as smooth as a lake.
Today is Robert's birthday so we will celebrate another year! God is blessing all of you, Donna

  7. Thanks Ria for adding your lovely thoughts to go with Donna's always inspiring messages and suggestions that bring us closer to God, as do your words Ria!

And Ria, your plan to get Christmas Cards and things done more calmly, rather than in a rush all at once, closer to Christmas, certainly is something I will try, so I can relax more. I want to stay in the true spirit of the Season! And with that I have to close in my very limited Dutch to all: "welterusten" ("happy dreams")

    J-M

PS Happily, I only had to pay the Cleanol bill for "cleaning" furniture, Donna, rather than buying new, as my part of the fun bargaining with my wife over keeping my oh-so-cozy pleasant (gezellig) LazyBoy! My wife Elizabeth is thrilled and I am too!

Best wishes to Robert for his Birthday!!!

  8. Hi Jan-Michael. Speaking of Christmas, I'm going to sing with a choir of more than 1000 people in Amsterdam tonight. This beautiful event will be taped and broadcast through the EO.. (Evangelische Omroep): Protestant Christian Evangelical broadcaster. The program is called: "Nederland zingt". Holland sings!!!
You'll be able to watch this program over internet as well.
You made me smile by wishing me "welterusten"
    So cute!

    Much Love in Christ,
    Ria

    Much Christian love

  9. As we celebrate Thanksgiving weekend in Canada we know He is blessing you and yours wherever you reside.

With Love and the following prayer
    J-M

    We Give Thanks

    Our Father in Heaven,
We give thanks for the pleasure
Of gathering together for this occasion.
We give thanks for this food
    Prepared by loving hands.
    We give thanks for life,
The freedom to enjoy it all
    And all other blessings.
As we partake of this food,
We pray for health and strength
To carry on and try to live as You would have us.

This we ask in the name of Jesus.

    AMEN
